The MAK Gateway is a complete automation kit for process-monitoring applications — water towers, master meters, leak detection, generators, and similar sites. The kit includes a SmartController, one Universal I/O module, a NEMA 4-rated enclosure, and a choice of solar or SmartUPS power. Monitor tower level, pressure, flow rate, and other parameters locally on the sunlight-readable LCD or remotely through Whisker.io®.
All tags — scaling, Modbus parameters, engineering units — are configured in the cloud. The MAK automatically pulls down the latest configuration as it changes, so commissioning and updates happen without a field laptop.

The MAK Gateway ships with one of the following monitoring applications pre-installed. Each is documented and versioned independently.
Runs on SmartController
A monitor for water towers. It measures tower level from a 4-20 mA transmitter and reports it to the cloud once a minute, along with the solar input and battery voltages of its own power system. It has no outputs and no control logic - nothing at the site can be commanded from it. Solar powered, so it needs no utility power at the tower.

Runs on SmartController
A monitor for master meters. It counts the meter's pulse output and reports both a flow rate and a running total to the cloud once a minute, along with its own solar and battery voltages. It has no outputs and no control logic. Solar powered, so it can sit at the meter vault without utility power.

A monitor for distribution-system pressure. It reads a 0-200 PSI transmitter plumbed into the line and reports to the cloud, where a sustained pressure drop - the signature of a break or a leak - raises an alarm. It has no outputs and no control logic. Solar powered, so it can be placed anywhere on the system.
