Water Water treatment plants
Treatment plant automation, engineered for your process.
01 The problem
Every treatment plant is different, and many are still running on aging PLCs and PCs that cannot be secured. There is no one-size kit for a plant.
A surface water plant turns river or lake water into drinking water in a chain of steps: raw water pumping, chemical coagulation, flocculation and clarification, filtration, disinfection, clearwell storage and high service pumping to the system. Every step depends on the one before it, and every step has pumps, tanks, levels and chemicals that need watching around the clock.
What we monitor and control.
- Process automation on the Nexus.io AC controller
- Chemical tank levels with PulsarQ™ radar
- Clearwell and filter monitoring
- Integration with wells, towers and boosters in Whisker.io
How it works, stage by stage.
- Raw water intake & pumping. Water is drawn from the river or reservoir through screens and pumped to the plant.
- Coagulation & rapid mix. Coagulant is added and flash-mixed so fine particles begin to clump together.
- Flocculation & clarification. Gentle mixing grows the particles into floc, which settles out in the clarifier.
- Filtration. Clarified water passes down through media filters that capture what is left.
- Disinfection & chemical treatment. Chlorine, fluoride and pH adjustment are added to the filtered water.
- Clearwell storage. Finished water is held in the clearwell before it is pumped to the system.
- High service pumping. High service pumps push finished water into the distribution system.
- The distribution system. Towers, boosters, wells and meters out in the system close the loop.
