Whisker.Blocks are battery powered, long range IoT sensors with multiple I/O configurations. They work together with our Smart.Hub to create an easy to use, simple to install IoT solution perfect for a large variety of applications.
Whisker.Blocks® are battery powered, long range wireless sensors that can monitor up to 4 analog or digital inputs, or 32 Modbus registers. They collect data every 5 minutes and forward it to an in-range Smart.Hub gateway. The Smart.Hub gateway uses an internal CatM1 cellular modem to communicate the data to the Whisker.io cloud. Each gateway can support 50 or more Whisker.Blocks and can also interface to local automation via a Modbus RS-485 interface. The Whisker.io cloud includes an automation agent that handles alerts and reporting and a web portal that provides easy to use tools for configuration, analytics, and visualization.
Our Smart.Hub IoT Gateways collect data from Whisker.Block sensors and forward it to the cloud using a private CatM1 cellular network. Our gateways can also interface with existing automation technologies such as PLCs via Modbus RS-485, allowing you to remotely monitor and manage them from anywhere in the world using any computer or mobile device.
Water and waste-water monitoring is super easy with Whisker.Blocks. Each Whisker.Block can monitor up to 4 tanks using analog pressure, ultrasonic, radar, or float level sensors. 18V sensor power is provided from the internal batteries and is switched on just prior to sampling to ensure long battery life. Level measurements are taken every 5 minutes and reported to the Whisker.io cloud via a Smart.Hub gateway.
Sewage lift stations and septic systems can also be monitored with our Whisker.Block Lift Station monitor. This special Whisker.Block configuration can monitor 4 floats (AC or DC), two duplex pumps (run time, error, and current), and has two extra 4-20mA inputs if you want to use analog level measurement instead of the floats. Using pump current measurements, it can immediately notify you when a pump is seized or blocked. You can also get configure text or email alerts on any of the float switches or pump error inputs.
